Well that's me done

Unfortunately, I haven’t posted nearly as much as I would have ideally liked. I kept starting to write posts but I was either too tire to finish writing them or I had too much work to complete. This won’t be my last post on this blog, as I have a huge amount of stuff to go through about going to university, coving a host of topics.

This is a quick update on the course, since I last updated. So, on the 2nd June I had my Unit 2 hand in. Unit 2 had been a mad time, where I put everything on the line. The unit was incredibly stressful, as I worked on my main photographic project, as well as research paper that I found very hard to put together.

The project took 3 months to put together and a month to shoot. There were 8 test shoots, and 10 project shoots. Due to time constraints, 7 of the shoots took place in a 11 day period, which was physically exhausting. The research paper was a slog which evolved over time and ended up very different to how I thought it would look.

My final mark for Unit 2 was 76%, one of the highest in the class. To say I was ecstatic at the time was an understatement, but me being me, I found it very stressful as well, as this gave me an overall mark for the first 2 units of 73%, which would put me up for a distinction, which was a mark I never even considered possible when I started the course and to get a distinction I need to get 67% in my final unit.

Where I have been strongest was with my photography. I never expected to get over 60% for my written work. But in my first unit I got 66% for my writing. Unit 3 is all about the written work. The unit is called Creative resolution and implementation and anyone who knows me will realise that I am not the best at implementing anything. It is also all written work, which is my weakest area by far.

Today, I handed in all my work for Unit 3, with almost a week in hand. I am not going to say it was easy, it certainly wasn’t and what I lost in talent, I made up for in effort. For this unit, I had to do many things. which I have listed below.

ePortfolio
Business card
Artistic statement
CV
Social media
Website
Ideal gallery
Client list
Book

Now, I was fortunate to have done several of those things before but I didn’t want to rest on my laurels. So I started working through everything.

Updating my CV
Completely changing my website so it is much neater and the images are better protected.
Improving my business card
Completely change where my business was going to go, once I reopen and the clients I am looking for.
Creating the ideal gallery for my project on Artstep and explaining how I would put it together.
Creating an ePortolio to send to potential clients.
Creating a book based on my project.

The only thing I haven’t really done is much social media, though I do already have various forms of social media.

For this unit, we are meant to put in 500 hours and really think I probably did put in that amount of time. From learning to use Indesign, to spending weeks writing and editing my book.

So technically everything is done. It haven’t all gone smoothly, particularly when it came to my book, which is currently being published. I certainly had the most stressful time on the course, last Sunday, where I found out there were a several issues with getting my book published.

But it is all done now. No more writing. I just have to put my final exhibition together, which due to a lack of space should be much easier than I had originally thought.
