Rochester
One of the most noticeable things about this blog is there are no photos on it. Well so fare anyway. This was not a conscious decision. The reality was in the months, coming up to moving, I didn’t take many photos. I am not a prolific photo taker. I just find that I become distracted by other things. If I do go somewhere, I like to look at it, not take photos of it. This may come from when I was working in video, where I would see the world through a view screen, not taking in the sights. Just as likely, I normally don’t have the motivation or as in the build up before the move, I didn’t go anywhere, which warranted me taking a photo.
Once, I moved to Rochester, things changed a bit. The town of Rochester (no longer a city) is very pretty and living in halls, it was very easy to walk along the river Medway. I regularly tried to go out for a walk, when I first moved, partly to get to know the area but also because there was very little to do.
Once I started my medication, going for a walk became a daily chore, as I had to walk off the side effects of the tablets I was on each morning. Unfortunately, coming off the tablets put a stop for the daily walks and whilst I tried to still do some walking, once the weather started to turn mid November, it became a much rarer occurrence.
Of course, by the end of November, I had moved into my new home, which is a part of an old council estate and not the most picturesque of areas. Reggie coming back home has also made going out for a walk, or going out at all a bit of a challenge. Reggie, likes to be walked twice a day but due to his ages and blindness, he doesn’t like to go very are and where he does go, he goes incredibly slowly. He also has issues getting into the car, and gets very stressed, so it isn’t really practical to take him out to a nice location for a walk, but I have a cunning plan, which will hopefully make a difference, once the weather improves.
This does not mean, I am not going out for a walk. The vast majority of week days, I try to go into university and unless I need the car, I do try to walk in. This is partly for health reasons but also, it saves money on petrol and I feel bad about just driving into town when I don’t have to. Sadly though, the walk down to university is rather dull. So I haven’t taken many images going into university.
Below, though I am going to show, a few of the photos I did take with my phone, from September to early November. There just to show, where I am living
