Health and safety, Lockdown, going forward.
First off, I would like to wish everyone who reads this post, all the best. Please follow all the guidelines but out by the government. Stay alert and stay safe.
As a photographer. I am not a key worker and my business has been closed for the last 2 months (Though I have been driving special needs children, to and from school).
I am aware that new advise was given by the Prime Minister about some staff returning to work and that some businesses will be opening soon. I thought that I would write a short post detailing, what I will be doing, going forward.
I take this pandemic extremely seriously. I am asthmatic and also suffer from another condition, which whilst not dramatically increasing my chances of catching Covid-19 but could be a factor.
I understand that there are many others who are in this situation and would not want to increase the chances of myself or anyone else catching the virus.
Until, at least June and more likely July, I will probably not be offering my services as a photography.
When I do open, it will be upon Government advise and when I believe it will be safe to do so.
Family/pet photography
Initially, I will only be offering environmental portrait and dog shoots. On location and then I will be following Government guidelines regarding, social distancing, the use of hand gels, whilst at work and the use of PPE.
The owner or parents (for children), must be on location for all shoots. I will not be going within 2 metres of the client being shot. I will also be avoiding touching any dogs during this time.
Viewings, will be done online and I will send a PDF, with selected images, which can be printed.
I will soon be posting on my site about pricing.
Due to environmental portraiture being done outside. A shoot is dependant on when the weather is good enough to happen, which can be unpredictable in the UK. Normally, I will try to update a client before a shoot (normally over a period of 3 days), as to whether the shoot can take place. If a shoot is cancelled due to weather, this will not effect a deposit.
I will be making sure that a health and safety form is sent out before any shoot takes place.
Business/actor portraits and headshots
I will not be shooting studio portraits or headshots, until at least July and maybe longer. I will be available to shoot out doors, or on location (provided there is a large enough space), either in June or July (dependant on Government guidance)). Safety is paramount and if guidance cannot take place, the shoot will have to be rescheduled. I will be following advise on social distancing, during the shoot, will have hand gel and appropriate PPE.
Themed portraiture.
At the same time that I start business portraits, I will start to offer themed portraiture, for online clients, re-enactors and cos players. I will only be doing so on location (outdoor) and will be following all social distancing rules, as well as using PPE and using hand gel.
Safety during this period is of upmost importance and if I believe it is not safe to do the shoot, I will not do so both for my own and the clients safety.
If you would like any more information please feel free to contact me, via this website.
Also, remember circumstances change and I will be trying to adapt with new information. he client and my own safety is paramount during this crisis and I will not be taking any risks.
There will probably be another updated post in a few days, where I will probably be joining a scheme by the Master Photographer Association to make sure that I can offer the safest environment possible, when doing a shoot.
